I can't imagine paying $2500 for a 6k... The first few on eBay, yes, but there have been more since. I'd still pay a few hundred just to have one...
Maybe I should just sell Oshkar my V4 engineering sample.

Rolo, good to hear your 6000 is still running. I noticed the red wires on the back of your card.
I even think they where mentioned in that interview with the German hardware magazine. I also wanted to know what happened to my card so that why I posted this topic. Its too long ago I realize. Though I did manage to find out the card used to belong to NuAngel. As for Hank, he really is not that hard to get in contact with. He is registered in several 3dfx forums, he even has an account over here.

Yes, that´s true. The magazine is called PC Games Hardware, back in 2003 I had an interview with them.
They wanted to make an article about the history of FSAA without mentioning the VSA100, so I sent a mail and asked why. As soon as they knew I had a working 6000 they wanted to visit me. Thanks to another owner there are still articles about 3dfx today in that magazine, quite amazing after all that time. |

Hehe you know whats ironic, I few weeks before I received my card it was
in the hands of PC Games Hardware. Hanks mixed up the boxes of my card and someone else working for PCGH. When I opened my box and found another card then the A3 Isend away to Hank I was scared to death I would never see it back. Fortunately the guy at PCGH was very kind and agreed to swap cards. It's now 'featured' in one of their online articles.

Yea I know Hank has an account here, but he hasn't posted in ages. And if he has it set to 'invisible', it'd be hard to see if he lurks around.
If you're in contact with him, ask him why he ditch his old plan to make a way to SLI two V5s together.

@ Omega
Hey, I know that guy at PCGH, it was Raff, right ? I read about the mixed cards over at www.3dcenter.de, good to know that each of you guys finally received the right card. |

Rolo, it was indeed someone called Raffael (Raff).
Here is the article I mentioned before. (They used my card in the first and second picture): http://www.pcgameshardware.de/aid,637147/Wissen/PCGH_Retro_Die_Geschichte_der_Voodoo5_6000/ Its great to see people still care about 3dfx cards. The thing I like most of it is that what 3dfx did back then was considdered insane and not done but it is wideley accepted today. I just got my 9800GX2 from Gainward this weekend. Compared to the older 6000's (up to A2) its just about 1CM shorter and maybe 10 times heavier. SLI is crap and it draws insane amounts of power and requires at least one 8pin PCIe connector. It will not boot wit a 6 pin. Considder this and think back to the days people complained about the 6000 and it elegant Voodoo Volts!
Talking about the voodoo volts: full size Also one of the reasons it was not a problem to swap cards with PCGH. Raff did not have a volts and really wanted to use the card. I asked Hank not to install any modification to see what was still wrong with the card when 3dfx went down. MaxPain, If you really need Hanks adress I can provide it. The problem is that he is extremely busy all the time so he hardly has time to do any voodoo projects. When I see him again I'll try to remember to ask him about the sli project. |

If I ever get another 200SB (x24 if you didn't know), then I might contact him and see if he has any SLI cards for them.

hah Obi, been awhile since you poked your head in here! I've been reading your posts on other forums from m14rad linking them. Me and him have been trying
to get our AA5 8132s running with alternative PSU methods. I haven't done any testing yet, it's all been research so far on a way to buck the voltage
to 2.7v but still have enough current supplied. When I get a spare $45 I'll be able to finally get the item that will do just that and hopefully not brick
my card

well all thanks to TrawnHO a member of Voodooalert.de we were having 3dfx old day stories of the day when getting a 3dfx card had more fun in it ya know the
idea of achieving such a goal like getting a 5000 AGP or a 56000 AGP just as an comparison nowadays there are so many newbies the idea that is was special back
in the years of 2002 til 2004 has disappeared alot and that is a shame in a way.
here's my collection btw http://www.3dfx.ch/galler...ors_obiwankenobi/album85/ just received the 5000's hehe after 5 years of looking for the PCI variant, they are so damn hard to find but all worked out fine since a few days ago 8 months ago I sold my entire collection because of the depression I had then the human mind is capable of doing things you don't want it to do which lead to that point of selling everything I had though there was a turning point 3 months from that to start all over what has been sold was sold and the only way of regaining all I collected is to start a new the 5000 AGP has returned all thanks to a noble friend of mine from Spain which I knew from the days back from The voodoo5 6000 resource group and 3dfxzone.it. and also thanx to him I found my 5000 PCI with an E-tag heh, though the E-tag was kept separately from the card I guess from rays of sunlight heh what matters within a few days it should be ere and I will make a separate 5000 topic for this place to discover what these cards are capable of, since that has truly never been explained. And I will also make a separate world Voodoo5 6000 list as I did make for x-3dfx.com BOing's site here's the World V5K List I made which include the research I already completed with the 5000 AGP, I will edit the list once my 5000 PCI arrives, though it's in transit now http://www.x-3dfx.com/for...wtopic.php?f=26&t=806
and the V6K List. http://www.x-3dfx.com/for...torder=asc&highlight= I made these for reference to give an idea on how many already have been found But MaxPain feel free to make yourself a member of V6K team the home haven for V6K & 81.xx card users and supporters here's DXX-Rebirth http://www.dxx-rebirth.com/ The more support the better http://www.voodoo3dfx.com/Foro_V6k/index Let me know that you regged send me a PM so I can let osckhar to activate your account hehe

Well, sadly I don't know much about what I'm even researching for the AA5
As for your V5 5K, we know how the perform, but I don't remember where I read about it. Probably on Gary's site, but if not, it's not all that much faster than a V4 4500 due to the lack of RAM on the 5K. Not sure if it using SGRAM (or it looks like it is) has any affect on the performance either compared to the SD on the 5500 or the DDR on the 4500 (I think they ran DDR...)

Me either haha It was a total fluke that 2 were on eBay I think. Yet, more probably had been, I just didn't bother to look since I already had my mind made
up what I was going to use to power it, not knowing they require 2.7/9v (8132/64)

So Omega any news from your V6K's yet?
I wonder if you heard any news from Hank of your Rev.A1 1500 that had that incident with it's diodes a few months ago. I hope Hank can fix this one some day

Damn, Obi, sorry to hear things got so rough for you last year. (And sorry I haven't seen this subject beforehand, haha).
I always wanted to collect more, but I never was able to find the great deals like everyone else. I still have yet to land a 6k, heh. I *do* have a 4500 engineering sample, though -- looks like this one that Rolo has... That's about the best thing I ever got, haha. The blank V3 board is pretty cool, too... and I occasionally wear the polo shirts to work. But still no 6000. *shrug* The only people who should buy Monster cable are people who light cigars with Benjamins. - William Rothman, Gizmodo |

I am quite sure you will find a V6K one day since you have many contacts you will find a way by getting one and hey what would it matter if it takes a few years right
