Yea, Ethanol does have the benefit of being inexpensive, and able to produce quite a bit of power over normal gas. Here's a great example with just E85 (85% 105oc Ethanol, 15% gasoline) on the GM truck motors: http://media.gm.com/us/po...53L_LMG_Avalanche_SAE.pdf
That's the automatic change in power you get when you fill up with E85 and the computer system detects the fuel, which loads a different programming. There's one supercar (this koenigsegg ) that has a Gas and Ethanol comparison, and it makes a good 200bhp more with Ethanol

I still am not sure how his car makes good power but bad economy Are your conversions a bit off by chance? What's his L/km, instead of L/mi? Because 1l every 3miles is... (took me a few minutes here to crunch this math as I suck at math) 11.33 miles per gallon(mpg), or about. Which I guess is pretty decent given the power. I was thinking it was more like 5mpg, so it was my conversions that were off haha My suggestion, which is just a suggestion heh, is to get a good Air:Fuel Ratio gauge and oxygen sensor stand-alone kit and figure out what A/FR he's running. It's different for Ethanol compared to gas, so we'd have to find out what it is, but he might have to re-jet his carb due to running too lean/rich. Doesn't need a computer to run BTW, it's just a O2 sensor and a guage Highly recommended for people making lots of power and not running fuel injection, to help tune the car. Plus it'll help for driving through different elevations, like if he goes through the mountains, he can stop and change the idle-mixture screw Eitherway, it's cool to see an old school I6 making tons of power with Biofuel

Yea, Ethanol isn't anything new, but it's much more accepted now. Hell the first diesel engine was intended to run on Peanut oil!!

For that price, I'd just get a new stereo with iPod or "Aux In" (auxiliary input) like my AIWA has. I plug in my phone or MP3 player with a Male-Male 3.5mm Phono cable. My Firebird just has a MP3 capable CD player in it, which I really like, but I like the AIWA in the Toyota I had been driving forever.

EDIT: I guess I could answer your Q at least lol If you have any electrical or wiring knowledge, you should be able to tackle this. However depending on where they plan for you to place the module, it could be a pain in the ass for someone who isn't familiar with interior panels, as they CAN be a real pain in the ass to remove. They like to hide screws and sometimes the retention clips really hold them in tight. Understandably so, otherwise they'd rattle, but still a @#*%# I personally wouldn't even want to do it lol Sometimes putting in just the radio can be a total pain in the ass, like that Toyota. HOLY CRAP! I'm not looking forward to removing that deck when/if we sell it! I had to take the panel under the steering wheel off, the whole dash bezel around the instrument cluster (speedo bit) and... ugh Took me a few hours -_-
